Hughes Funeral Home

While funerals are often associated with the saddening loss of a loved one and the overwhelming grieving process, Paducah’s Hughes Funeral Home operates as a safe haven to friends and families during such a difficult time in their lives.

Located on the outskirts of McCracken County, Hughes Funeral Home offers an impressive range of services including embalming, funeral planning, and comforting individuals going through the stages of grief. Owner and operator Rick Hughes knew he wanted to help those going through the experience of losing a loved one after starting his career in the funeral business as a young adult.

Rick began working for Lindsey Funeral Home as a part-time gravedigger after graduating from Paducah Tilghman High School. Within a year, he started serving his apprenticeship at Lindsey Funeral Home’s downtown location. Five years later, he received his license and diploma from Mid-America College of Funeral Services in Jeffersonville, IN.

Following his graduation, Rick served tenured positions at both Lindsey Funeral Home and Milner and Orr Funeral Home as manager, developing his passion for helping those in need. Twelve years ago, he took a leap of faith and decided to open his own funeral home with his family.

Rick and his family started from scratch. After an extensive and rewarding career servicing other funeral homes, he wanted to utilize his own knowledge of the business in something the rest of his family could share in. At the funeral home, Rick employs his sisters, sister-in-law, brothers, and daughter in operating all means of business.

As a family-run establishment, Hughes Funeral Home can comfort families on a more personal and sympathetic level than others operating the same type of business. The Hughes family is able to help families going through the grieving process so easily because they can relate to the feelings one might be experiencing when they lose a family member because their own family bond is so strong.

The Hughes family offers an extensive list of aftercare grief sessions for any individuals struggling with a difficult amount of emotional upheaval after experiencing a loss. To name a few, Hughes Funeral Home can accommodate people seeking help from the Center for Loss and Transition and Sesame Street’s When Families Grieve

While the Center for Loss and Transition provides information and inspiration in the areas of death, loss, and transition, Sesame Street’s When Families Grieve offers educational and interactive content to children experiencing the sadness and anxiety of losing a loved one.

Although Hughes Funeral Home guides communities through times of loss and grief, they make it their mission to create a meaningful ceremony to honor the life of anyone who has passed. Seek out the services of Hughes Funeral Home today for all your needs as you grieve.
