As the temperature cools down and the leaves begin to change color, September kicks off the start of another season. While fall is admired as a time to carve pumpkins and celebrate another school year, it’s also the beginning of hunting season. Nestled in the heart of Western Kentucky, Paducah’s Shooters Supply provides sportsmen across the area with top of the line equipment, apparel, and educational services. Lynn McCutchen and his parents built the business from the ground up in 1983. When Paducah Shooter’s Supply first opened, it operated as a small shop that sold and repaired guns. However, the family-owned gun shop soon expanded as it welcomed customers from all over the region.
What started as a local shop for firearms and hunting materials became the go-to store for fishing and archery supplies, as well. This wide variety of outdoor sporting goods from top of the line brands attracted sportsmen of every age and activity.
In 2002, Lynn’s wife Trudy joined the business and helped Paducah Shooter’s Supply get more involved in the clothing side of the outdoor sports industry. Within months of her arrival in business affairs, the store was carrying a wide variety of waders, rain jackets, gloves, hats, and footwear to service hunters and fishers alike. Paducah Shooter’s Supply quickly became a one-stop shop for all outdoor sports necessities.
The establishment of Paducah Shooter’s Supply hasn’t been without struggle. In September of 2017, tragedy struck the McCutchen family when their building suffered a major fire. The family lost all apparel and sustained major damage to the gun and archery department. The McCutchens hoped that some of the store had been spared, but all products inside were either burned or damaged. While the building seemed lost, Paducah Shooter’s Supply was quick to rebuild.
About 10 days after the fire, the business relocated temporarily. The family sold all guns and apparel out of the store’s warehouse and garage until August 23, 2018, when Paducah Shooter’s Supply reopened its original location after extensive rebuilding. Throughout all the hardships, the McCutchens only grew more appreciative of their loyal and supportive customers.
With such amazing shoppers, Paducah Shooter’s Supply considers customer service to be the most important part of the business.
“Customer service is what we strive to provide more than anything. We want to make every person that comes in this building happy and leave here with a smile on their face,” says Trudy. “We want to treat every customer that comes in the way that we would like to be treated, as well as provide everything that they might need.”
