Caring People Services

Joni Hogancamp and Carolyn Roberts founded Caring People Services to fulfill a need for local seniors.

Each had experience sitting with elderly family members at their homes and assisted living facilities and helped them make routine doctor and physical therapy visits. After taking care of her mother-in-law, Joni asked herself, “Who takes care of seniors who do not have anyone to help?”

That’s when she had an idea and found someone who shared her vision. Joni and Carolyn met and discussed a potential business idea. By the end of an hour-long lunch, they had a business plan ready to put into action to help the seniors in our community.

“We started our business to help people, but it has been so fulfilling for Carolyn and myself,” says Joni. “It makes our job worth it when we know we can help seniors stay independent and happy in their own home.”

Caring People Services was founded in 2001 and provides care for seniors with health issues, the frail elderly, and the disabled of all ages in and around west Kentucky. Joni and Carolyn carefully hire all of their staff and look for individuals who are caring, kind, and compassionate to provide non-medical care for seniors and disabled individuals who may need a helping hand.

“We understand that people want to remain independent as long as possible and stay in their home. Our goal is to help them do that,” says Joni.

Caring People Services offers assistance with bathing, dressing, medications, and mobility. Additionally, caregivers can also assist with housekeeping, shopping, meal preparation and simple companionship. If a client needs to be driven to an appointment or any specific location, their caregivers can drive them to the client’s care or escort them on public transportation.

“Every time we hire a caregiver, Carolyn and I ask ourselves, ‘Is this someone I would trust to look after my mom or dad?’” says Joni. “It’s vital that every one of our clients are comfortable and happy with the caregiver they are assigned to.”
