Salt of the Earth Halotherapy

Since the 18th century, a natural non-invasive, known as Halotherapy or dry salt therapy, involves inhaling salt particles, which can help cleanse both the airways and the skin to relieve congestion, inflammation, and skin irritations. Salt therapy can help relieve the symptoms of a wide range of respiratory and skin conditions, as salt is a natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and super absorbent. It is also effective in treating a variety of upper and lower respiratory tract disorders and skin conditions such as COPD, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, eczema, and psoriasis.

While salt spas have been popular for many of years in Europe, those in the United States are just now realizing the true benefits of salt therapy. Thankfully, traveling thousands of miles is not needed. Located in Paducah, Kentucky, Salt of the Earth Halotherapy has exactly the means to get you started on a new health and mind journey.

“I want to help people feel and breathe better. That’s why we brought it here,” said Sharon Buerhaus, owner. “It helps boost your immune system, and helps out with allergy season.”

When the Buerhaus family moved from Alabama to Kentucky they quickly found out the environment was different and it affected their allergies. They were used to going to a salt room in Birmingham, Alabama, but there was not one near Paducah.  After much prayer and research, Sharon decided to put her business degree to work and open a salt room to not only help her family but anyone else who can benefit from it.

“The Lord opened up the opportunity for us to be able to offer dry salt therapy, along with infrared sauna sessions and 2 massage chairs for our community and surrounding areas. I give Him all the glory,” said Buerhaus.

The salt particles in therapy can help to open up the airways, increase oxygen intake, and cleanse the airways of smoke, dust, pollutants, and other allergens. When the salt lands on the skin it can also help to relieve sore, flakey, red, and irritated skin.

“Consistency is key, that’s what contributes to the building of your immune system,” said Buerhaus.

Regular salt therapy can make breathing become easier, while shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, congestion, and irritated skin may gradually be alleviated.

It is important to understand that salt therapy is not an alternative therapy, but a complementary one. It can help relieve the symptoms of a condition and work in conjunction with existing medication, resulting in even greater relief.

Salt of The Earth’s salt room has pink salt bricks, mined in the Himalayan mountains of Pakistan, on a wall and salt grains on the floor. These mineral-rich salt deposits were created thousands of years ago when sea levels around the mountain range receded.

“During a 45-minute therapy session in our salt room, 99.99% pure grade sodium chloride (salt) is ground into fine particles and circulated throughout the room,” said Buerhaus.
