Tell us how you and your spouse met and how long you have been married.
We met after college while living in Charlotte, NC. James was working as a whitewater rafting guide and Alex as a gymnastics coach. A mutual friend introduced us, and the rest is history. We were married in 2013, which will make May 2023 our 10-year wedding anniversary.
Tell us about where each of you grew up and how you landed in the region.
James grew up in Paducah and graduated from St. Mary High school. Alex grew up in Winston-Salem, NC.
What is your favorite holiday?
Every holiday is our favorite. Anytime that we can be together and celebrate with our family is a great holiday.
What is your favorite thing about the region?
Our favorite thing about Paducah is the people. Paducah and the surrounding region are the best place to raise a family.
How do you spend your summer breaks?
We spend our summer breaks at the swimming pool and with friends and family enjoying the sunshine.
What does your spouse do to make you feel special?
She supports me and gives really good advice. No matter what, she always is there for me.
How do you manage work and family time?
I am very lucky to have a wonderful and supportive group of employees which allow me to balance work and family time easily.
What are the core values of your family?
Honesty and compassion.
Do you have any family traditions?
At the end of each week, we have started to have a family meeting of sorts. We usually discuss events of the previous week and the upcoming week over Sunday lunch or dinner. It seems like a small thing, but it has helped us feel more bonded and focused on the small goals as a family. The kids have been loving it too!
What brings you the greatest joy as a parent?
Watching our children grow into active and kind people. They make us proud every single day.
Tell us something interesting about your family that we may not know.
We are always laughing. The kids are always joking and have started getting really good at pranks.
Do you have nicknames for your kids?
We call Rhett “Bubby” and Piper “Pipes”.
Questions for kids: What’s your favorite thing to do as a family?
Piper- “When we go out to eat together. I like it when we go to eat at Mexican.”
Rhett- “I like when we play games and watch movies together.”
