Muddin’ 4 Missions

Get muddy for the sake of the Gospel with Muddin’ 4 Missions! This annual event takes place on August 24th and is hosted by Bethlehem Baptist Church. Join in the fun by participating in a muddy volleyball tournament or attend as a spectator and enjoy worship, community and lunch for a great cause.

“Muddin’ 4 Missions is a day to celebrate the gospel and share God’s love locally, nationally and internationally through mission work. It’s a day of good, clean fellowship and a fun mud volleyball tournament. Most importantly, it’s an effort to raise money that will directly fund mission activities and work, locally and globally,” says Steve Ernest, pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Muddin’ 4 Missions was founded in 2003 to bring youth and adults alike together for a cause that gives back to many. The funds raised from the event directly impact local, national and International mission work for organizations including Romania Medical Clinic, Refuge Louisville, Chaplain Ministry at Columbus Park, Fan the Flame Youth Ministry, Global Theological Seminary in Uganda, Hope that Binds, and more.

“Having participated in Muddin’ for Missions by playing, serving and now helping to plan and coordinate the tournament, I have been able to see how it allows us as a church to serve together and reach others on a local and global scale with the message of The Gospel. Our hope and prayer is that Christ is glorified through the event itself and through all money raised!” says Alexa Hammonds.

The event starts on August 24th with registration at 8 a.m. All event attendees can worship together during the services offered by Bethlehem Baptist Church before the games begin. The volleyball tournaments will start with a round robin match and the winners of each round will compete against one another in the tournament. Lunch is available for purchase and will be served before the volleyball tournament takes place. Event attendees can enjoy hotdogs, BBQ, hamburgers, pizza, chips, desserts, soda and water for lunch. Plus, there will be free water offered throughout the day.

There is truly something for everyone at this event that supports a wide range of organizations that help the hungry, educate worship leads, establish new churches across the globe and more! Bethlehem Baptist Church pastor, Steve Ernest, says that the Bible’s book of Acts was the driving force for the Muddin’ 4 Missions event. Inside the book of Acts, the gospel speaks about a clear priority that the local church is to spread the gospel to others across the world.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Acts 16: 9-10

“Our church came to the point where we asked, ‘Where do we begin?’ Muddin’ 4 Missions was a good starting point. As more people participate every year, we are more convinced that spreading the gospel locally, domestically and internationally is not someone else’s job. It’s our job,” says Steve Ernest, pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
