Doctors Without Borders Fundraiser by Terra Cottage Ceramics

Michael & Victoria of Terra Cottage Ceramics have been grounded. For the past 20 years, they have made a living selling Michael’s artwork at juried art shows and festivals across the nation. So what does a creative couple do while sheltering in place in their home/studio with their studio assistant, Kelly, and five cats? They just keep on being creative! That’s just what Michael, Victoria, and Kelly have been doing.

“We’re constantly thinking of creative ways to keep our business afloat and to contribute to our community” says the energetic couple. We started with a fundraiser for our local Small Business Relief Fund selling Socially Responsible Squints, small, delightful masked faces that you hang on your wall. That fundraiser has been very rewarding and successful, so they felt it was time to expand their reach.

Michael, a poet and sculptor, designed a ceramic outdoor wall tile that says ‘HumanKind; be both’. There is a bit of philosophy behind this seemingly simple phrase: We are all Human, with all that that implies, and we are all Kind and wanting to be seen that way in our communities, and if we simply do both of those things—be human and be kind—then so many issues will simply melt away. It took months of studio time to work out all the kinks and issues that come with dealing with the production of large, outdoor tiles, but they are now ready to be hung everywhere!

After a lot of thought and discussion, Terra Cottage Ceramics has decided that they would like this fundraiser to contribute to Doctors Without Borders.

“We’re a team here at Terra Cottage Ceramics and we unanimously decided that Doctors Without Borders needed our support more than ever right now.”

Doctors Without Borders’ guiding principle is ‘Medical aid where it is needed most—independent, neutral, impartial’. The folks at Terra Cottage Ceramics resonate with this philosophy, so reaching consensus about this organization was very easy.

HumanKind sells for $150. Terra Cottage Ceramics will donate $50 from every purchase to Doctors Without Borders. Sales will include shipping and come with the necessary hardware for installation at your house.

Find the ‘HumanKind’ tile at www.terracottageceramics.com or at 514 N 7th St, Paducah. You can also reach Terra Cottage Ceramics by phone at 270-908-0090.
